Any Other Business
On
Thursday 4th December 2003 Claxby had a good old fashioned village
event when members of the village gave a concert in St Mary’s Church. John
Goodchild, who came to the village only last year found and persuaded several
other residents to pool their talents. The programme was varied and was very
well received by the appreciative audience. John accompanied Robbie and Anne
Robinson in various songs from the shows, Ron Bell and John Malvert presented
their own poetry, Pat Spolton (cello) and Anita Hunter (keyboard) gave a
selection of classical music and Chloe Saywell sang, accompanied herself on the
keyboard. She included songs written by herself. Later her brother William
joined her playing the guitar. At the end the performers gave a demonstration
of the Claxby handbells and led the audience in carols. The show had a very
professional MC in Pauline Woods. Mulled wine and a generous array of food were
consumed afterwards. The concert raised nearly £270 for church funds.
A
Christmas tea was held in the village hall which was full to capacity and
£87.50 was raised towards the upkeep of the village hall and playground
equipment. The Chairman would like to thank both Mrs Sue Griffin for organising
the event and all her many helpers.
The
travellers have sited a static caravan on the verge near their site. The
Chairman to
liaise
with Market Rasen police regarding safety issues.
A
hole has appeared in the flat roof above the sink in the village hall kitchen.
