Minutes of the Regular Parish Council Meeting

Held in the Village Hall on Tuesday 30th March 2004 @ 7:30pm

Draw 100 Club numbers. Meeting opened 7:35 pm

 

Accepted Ms Angie Hancock’s resignation from the Parish Council. Co-opt new councillor onto Parish Council. Mr Frank Waterman, 2 Ash Grove, Normanby Rise has applied for the vacancy that exists on the Parish Council. Mr Waterman was unopposed after the statutory 14 days notice of vacancy. Proposal that Mr Waterman be co-opted onto the Parish Council. Proposed Ray Mitchell, seconded Mary Sharp. All in favour. The proposal was carried unanimously. The Chairman welcomed Mr Waterman as councillor and the Declaration of Acceptance and Code of Conduct were signed.

 

The Chairman on behalf of the council thanked Angie Hancock for all her work in the past as a councillor.

1. Minutes of January meeting

 

Proposed true record Councillor Ray Mitchell, seconded Councillor Wendy Roe.

 

2. Matters Arising

 

The travellers static caravan was moved onto the site the next day after the meeting.

 

The hole in the flat roof above the kitchen still needs investigating.

 

3. Highways

 

The existing potholes were filled in shortly after notifying highways. New potholes have appeared at Fenwicks corner and Tom Johnsons corner. The verge at Pelham Farm end of the village is falling away. The road near the pig unit is subsiding. The salt bin at the end of Boggle Lane has been moved and three trees planted in its original position. Letters regarding road safety to be sent in the near future.

 

4. Police Report

 

The police have requested that now that spring is upon us be extra vigilant re garden shed burglaries, particularly lawn mowers and ride on mowers are a target. Shed and garage alarms are available from Market Rasen police station at £10.00 each. Please report anything that is felt to be suspicious.

 

5. Neighbourhood Watch

 

Nothing to report except under 4. above.

 

6. Planning

 

Lancaster’s extension passed and work underway. The new garages in the rear garden of Simba were discussed. No planning application had been submitted.

 

7. Treasurer's Report

 

Balance of £1490.21 reported.

 

8. Playground

 

A grant for a basketball net (£652) has been successfully applied for. The net has to be erected by 22nd May 2004 to comply with the grant award. The Chairman to approach Ken Salmon for a price for a 20’ x 20’ concrete base.

 

The gaol post supports are ready to be painted.

 

Various grants to be investigated at the funding fair on Friday 2nd April 2004 at Gainsborough

Awaiting RBP, but due early April.

11. Correspondence

 

Application forms to enter Best Kept Village competition discussed. Decided not to progress any further this year.

 

Letter from Elizabeth Holmes re donation of £125 for maintenance of St Mary’s Churchyard as in previous years was discussed. Proposed by Ray Mitchell, seconded by Mary Sharp, all in favour.

 

The ServiceTeam quote for mowing the playing field (approx £27 + VAT per cut) was accepted.

 

12. Any Other Business

 

Village fete discussed. Suggested date Monday 31st May 2004 in the grounds of The Old Rectory. A marquee will be available pm if wet and in the evening for a parish event, possibly a picnic, bring your own food. Volunteers asked for and meeting to be arranged at Elizabeth Holmes house ASAP.
