4. Police Report

On Sunday 17th April 2005 at 2:00pm three cars were seen parked inside the entrance of the playing field and several older youths were playing on the equipment. Councillor Ray Mitchell fortunately took photographs of these vehicles.

On Monday night 18th April 2005 four cars were seen at the bottom of the field behind the goalposts. These were noted to be the same cars seen on Sunday.  On Tuesday morning it was reported that substantial damage had been caused to the field due to the cars being deliberately driven around in circles causing skid marks and circular shaped ruts. Councillor Ray Mitchell took photographs of the damage which were handed to the police. A heavy-duty lock and chain were then fitted on the main gate and Councillor George Brumby kindly filled in the ruts.

On Wednesday night 20th April 2005 the same youths returned but had to leave the cars at the gate but were playing football until dark. After each of these visits Councillor George Brumby had to pick up empty food cartons, assorted beer bottles and cans.

On Sunday 24th April 2005 at 7:45pm the youths returned. The Chairman rang police HQ and two patrol cars arrived. The officers recorded names, addresses and registration numbers and the youths were told to leave the field (Incident 343/24/4). The youths have not returned since and PC Ayres is still considering criminal charges.
