3. Highways

The Chairman spoke to Anglian water re water running out of a BT manhole and down the road on Normanby Rise. Anglian Water confirmed it was not a burst pipe but water running off the land getting into the BT duct and overflowing out of their manhole. BT was contacted and arrived to inspect their equipment and said they would get in touch with Highways. The Chairman also rang Highways and explained the situation and was promised urgent attention and given a works reference (No 249062 – 11th August 2006).

Since then several residents have contacted highways due to the damage done to the road and verges. On Tuesday 19th September 2006 the Chairman was informed that Highways had contracted out the job of digging out the dyke down Normanby Rise and fitting a new pipe for the water and also to repair the road and verge.

The Chairman has been contacted re the number of large lorries and tractors using Normanby Rise that are unable to pass without running in the dyke or along the footpath.

Most of the hedges along Normanby Rise have been trimmed but others are still overhanging the footpath.

An email is to be sent to Steve Wiles re drop kerbs at Bristows corner (junction of Park Road, Mulberry Road and Normanby Rise) and to ask if the speed limit past the playing field could be reduced to 20mph.
