Minutes of the Regular Parish Council Meeting

Held in the Village Hall on Tuesday 15th May 2007 @ 7:30pm

Meeting resumed at 7:10 pm

 

The Chairman Brian Hunter was re-elected, proposed Councillor Frank Mandville, seconded Councillor Shane Bennett, all in favour.

 

The Chairman asked for nominations for the Vice Chair. Councillor Frank Mandville proposed by Councillor Shane Bennett, seconded by Councillor Wendy Roe, all in favour.

 

1. Minutes of March meeting

 

Proposed true record Councillor Frank Mandville, seconded Councillor Wendy Roe.

 

2. Matters Arising

 

Meeting with WLDC re travellers site on 5th April 2007. All other matters to be discussed under appropriate agenda items.

 
3. Highways

 

Nothing to report.

 

4. Police Report

 

Two incidents occurred in the village on the night of 11th April 2007. Two vehicles on St. Mary’s Lane were broken into and items stolen. On Normanby Rise a dwelling was burgled and the keys to two vehicles taken. One of the vehicles, a black Nissan pickup was stolen and later found abandoned in Grimsby.

 

Offenders are reported to be actively targeting vehicles in the area. Police are asking us to be extra vigilant. Now that spring is here please be aware that opportunists are stealing lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, etc. from garden sheds. Security bars and alarms can be purchased from Market Rasen police station at very reasonable prices.

 

5. Neighbourhood Watch

 

Last meeting cancelled due to reorganisation.

 

6. Planning

 

Planning application for the demolition of garage, conservatory and utility and to erect a two story extension at Langham Farm was submitted. No objections.

 

The planning application for alterations to The Cottage, Boggle Lane have been passed.

 

7. Treasurer's Report

 

Balance of £2873.36 was reported.

 

8. Playground

 

New signs are to be purchased (no dogs, no horses).

 

Lincolnshire County Council to be approached re siting a toilet in the playing field.

 

9. Correspondence

 

Undergrounding of electricity wires in the village will not take place in 2007-8. It is hoped that these works may be included in the timetable for work after 2009.

 

10. Village Hall

 

The Parish Council has been successful in getting the village hall rates reduced to 50%.

 

The Parish Council and village hall insurance has been moved from Alliance Cornhill to Zurich (via CC Lincs) with an approximate £50 reduction in cost.

 

11. Village Activities

 

A meeting for the Open Gardens event took place on Thursday 10th May 2007.

 

The Open Gardens event is to take place on Sunday 17th June 2007.

 

12. Annual Return Year Ending 31st March 2007

 

The annual return was agreed and signed.

 

13. Any Other Business

 

Concerns about dogs at 1 Wold View. Letter to be sent to owners.

 

Nets for goalposts.

 

A proposal to co-opt Judith Pilbrow onto the Parish Council, proposed Councillor Shane Bennett, seconded Councillor Frank Mandville, all in favour.

 

Advertisement for a Parish Councillor is to be placed in notice board.
