There
were two members of the public in attendance.

Minutes of July 2008 meeting
Proposed

2.
Matters Arising
All
matters to be discussed under appropriate agenda items.
3. Highways
Highways
have filled the holes in the roads.
John Goodchild has moved the dog bin to the opposite side of the road.
The Chairman rang Highways re weeds growing in the gutters along Mulberry Road
and the verges spreading over the footpaths. (Job number 599043). Email read
out regarding new reporting method for highway matters, including hedge
trimming and minor tree works adjacent to footpaths. Email to be sent to County
and District councillors regarding Fenwicks lorry driving into the ditch on
Park Road.
4.
Police Report
The
vandalisation of teddy bear was discussed. It was reported that Trevor Lyle
must make a complaint and assess the value of the damage.
5.
Neighbourhood Watch
The Good Life Guide (LCC) contains a variety of useful information including
crime prevention, dealing with unwanted callers at doors, neighbour disputes,
buying goods at the door, dealing with junk mail, unwanted phone calls, etc.
6.
Planning
The
planning application for 40+ log cabins at Fish Ponds Farm was due to be
discussed at the planning meeting on August 20th 2008 at WLDC in
Gainsborough. The agents for the applicant asked for a deferral.
Application
for a permanent complex of 10 holiday units at Wold View Fishery was discussed.
Agreed to send letter with objections.
Application
for conversion of barns to snooker room etc. at Moat Farm was discussed. The
councillors had no objections to the application.
7.
Treasurer's Report
Balance
of £1828.87 was reported. A total of £270.01 was paid into the deposit account,
made up of £193.01 from the teddy bear’s picnic, £20 from hire of the marquee
and £57 scrap from metal from the portacabin.
8.
Playground
The
portacabin was burned on Saturday 19th July 2008. The scrap metal
was taken to City Scrap in Scunthorpe and raised £57. The ground underneath the
cabin was rotavated and seeded.
A
maintenance team is to be organised to carry out some work in the playing
field. Shane Bennett offered to be the co-ordinator.
There
will be a RoSPA inspection in August.
Duane
Downing to be contacted re extermination of moles.
9.
Correspondence
Educational
trust notice to be placed in notice board.
10.
Village Hall
Agreed
that the interior will be repainted in the spring.
11.
Village Activities
The
teddy bear’s picnic raised £579.02 to be split between the Parish Council, St.
Mary’s Church Claxby and St Peter’s Church Normanby-le-Wold.
A
Harvest Festival and supper have been arranged for Sunday 19th
October 2008.
A
village newsletter is to be published in early October covering the Parish
Council, St Mary’s Church and the Viking Centre together with any other
interesting activities.
A
bonfire has been arranged for Saturday 1st November 2008 in the
field in St. Mary’s Lane. The fire will be lit at 7:00pm.
Pam
Holbrook has offered to run a quiz at the end of October.
12.
Flooding
Ian
Cumber has carried out substantial drainage works around his house and along
Boggle Lane. Details will be published in the village newsletter.
13.
Any Other Business
The
fingerpost sign at the end of St. Mary’s Lane is missing.
14.

September meeting except Flooding in Village.
